I started playing the electric bass in the mid-1970's. Back then, I could never find a lefty bass so I bought righty basses and strung them left handed.

In 1976, I bought a righty 1974 Fender Precision which I still have today.

About 6 years ago, I wanted to learn to play the double bass and I found a local luthier (David Mix) who helped me find lefty double basses.

Ironically, he is left-handed as well, but plays the bass righty.

My first lefty double bass was an Engelhardt ES-1 plywood bass.

A few years ago, I also bought a Christopher 304T hybrid busetto bass.

I have both basses. I keep one in my office where I work to practice every day.

For the last 3 years, I have been playing with local jazz bands.
