Band: Sixpack Latino

Reykjavik / Iceland

I´m a 25 year old girl from Iceland and I´ve played for 6 years. ( I dont understad why so few girls play the bass ..?)
For the past years. I´ve played with some bands, that have done their own music not so much cover stuff. One was a Icelnadic-folk/salsa band =a mixture between the two. Another was a pure rock band. Today, I play with a newformed group, and were into pop/polka or what ever .. I´ts hard to put label on our music just yet ..
Also I like to play on my own at home with some records of funkjazz and some interesting stuff
and put in it some basslines. I stayed in school in Granada, Spain and brought the bass along.
There I got very influenced of Flamenco, and tried to play some for fun ..
There is a band there caled KETAMA and they do Flamenco/pop. Their bass player is incredible
and that stuff really attracts me. (Check Carlo Sauras film FLAMENCO. and you´ll se him in the end.

It is´nt so easy to find LH. instruments here in Reykjavik, so I only have one bass.
The Warmoth has a thick, solid sound (ash) but is a little heavyweight. I love that bass.
I could use a lighter one as well, with sharp and pointy sound, to have different characters.

I play the Percussion as well, (the African Djembee, bongos congas and that kind of stuff) we have a band of 6 people. singer, acc.guitar, drummer, percussion, double bass. We have released 2 CD´s and the band is called "Sixpack Latino" -so I guess i´m all for rythm hahh ..

My bass is a Warmoth ,both body and neck and I came across it in Finland.
It had an owner before me, so I have no idea which model it is ..
Pickups are active EMG´s. It is a F. Jass bass style.

My amp is Peavey, but at the rehearsal local i use Marshall head and
speaker. I never play through effects or equalizer, just mess with the tone buttons a lot.
Somehow I dont like to kill the real sound of Bass ..?
